It's a great idea for a PEAR class. I can see this being quite valuable to quite a few people. What will be done about Win32 users? As for naming suggestions, what about File_File? I know it sounds confusing, but this seems to do pretty much the same as the UNIX file command, so it seems appropriate. Regards, David
