For sure. I plan on using the Mod 10 code that is already in Validate,
but I'm adding a few more things:
1.) Expiration validation
2.) Basic number validation (ie. Should we even bother with Mod 10
because the "number" passed was '123asdf34325')
3.) Use PEAR_Error and error codes for more complex error handling.
After I finish that I plan on updating Validate::creditcard() to use
Validate_Finance_Creditcard.

Hi Piotr,
could you send me and Joe the "patch" also, please? Joe volunteered
to work on such a functionality and I talked to Pierre that it would
be a good idea to have a furhter improved (meaning: more complex)
checking of creditcards and that Validate_Finance_Creditcard as a
separate class would be a good idea for that. Have a look at
Validate_Finance_IBAN in CVS please.
For sure your contributions are always welcome. But maybe Joe could
have a look at it, compare it with his ideas and if he has further
contributions / checks / ... could streamline all the up-coming
ideas?
