Hi,
I was installing a fresh PEAR in a new machine and something bugs me.
Bellow is the out put of the pear install:
>[root@lab www]# pear install DB_DataObject
>downloading DB_DataObject-1.2.tgz ...
>Starting to download DB_DataObject-1.2.tgz (27,573 bytes)
>.........done: 27,573 bytes
>requires package `Validate' >= 0.1.1
>DB_DataObject: Dependencies failed
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ OK...
>[root@lab www]# pear install Validate
>No releases of preferred state "stable" exist for package Validate. Use
>Validate-state to install another state (like Validate-beta)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ugh!!!
>[root@lab www]#
Is that meaning that a "stable" package like DataObject can depend on
unstable alpha code? How is this question being handled in the package
manager, besides the sugestion made above? To me DataObject 1.2 need to be
made beta, alpha, RCsomething, but not stable if it depends on alpha packages.
And more. Validate isnt in the pear remote-list, so how can one say that
the sugested 0.1.1 version is the current one?
By the way, Is that a way to install a previous version of DataObject, or
better, any package, if someone want to?
Regards
S.Rocha
