How about banning or allowing services to countries
(i had to ban nigeria due to abuse, not a good thing but had to do it)
Agreed on the points made
a) trivial to imlement
b) proposed name not ideal
I disagree of using soap, or even having wrappers of SOAP services in pear.
If nobody finds this usefull I'll probably drop it.

I'm not sure that wrapping what is effectively a database lookup (ignoring the CSV driver option) is worth an entire new package. Another point is that the Services prefix seems to be reserved for Web Services [1] What about web services? I found a SOAP-compatible service here [2] .This might fit in better alongside Services_ExchangeRates and Services_Weather IF you can find a reliable SOAP server (or choice of servers) for GeoIP data. 1. http://pear.php.net/packages.php?catpid=23&catname=Web+Services 2. http://www.xmlwebservices.cc/ws/v1/geoip/geoipconversion.asmx?op= GetCountryFromIPWe already have Net_Geo (basicly doing the same stuff using the CAIDA webservice). So, you'll better talk to Graeme Merrall about making the Net_Geo package supporting drivers. After creating driver support in the Net_Geo package, you've could create a driver to use the IP2Country database to lookup the IP. I'm not positive about adding the proposed package into pear. A side from that, what's the use of it? php.net is using this database to redirect the user to a local mirror, but i guess you don't have mirrors of you're site ;-) Regards, Dave
