XML_Parser 1.0 in CVS but not released

I noticed that the XML_Parser in cvs is the 1.0 version with lots of fixes
and marked as stable but the latest one I can download via PEAR is 1.0.1
Can I copy the 1.0 version over top of my current 1.0.1 until the next time
a release is packaged for 1.0?
Should I expect any problems by doing so?
