ok these features would require using the LiveUser Medium containter.Purpose: I am thinking of an additional Auth Package in between the low featuredAuth, and the sometimes "overkill" packages AuthEnterprise and LiveUserWhat especially are you looking for to introduce? Maybe if there are specific suggestions they could find their way into the Auth-package? Please send some more detailed comments to pear-dev@lists.php.net. Kind regards, StefanBasically I'd like/need to have authentication based on usergroups. So I was thinking of: o) a "table" with usergroups o) users in usergroups o) users
o) default for a single page is logged in, other restrictions are defined with an array (page->page->array(filename->xy, neededgroups->array(a,b,c,d,))could you elaborate? (just as an FYI for me so that I know what knowledge I can assume ... do you know LiveUser, if yes how well?)
So, I guess it's not that easy to add groups to Auth, since it would be difficult to store the m:n user:group relationship in plain text or samba passwd files :-). It could be an additional feature, only available with DB and MDB storage, off course.Yeah what I am wondering though is if whatever you have in mind could not implement a permission container (which could be adapted to be a LiveUser container as well). If it is needed to full fill the "easy" objective you could have your own class around Auth and your new permission container. The end result would be: User who dont want to deal with all the flexibility of LiveUser can start off with just Auth. If they need permissions they can move to your package. Finally once they are ready to do heavy duty stuff they can move to LiveUser, all without having to migrate any data from one package to another. However it just might be that with better documentation LiveUser can be made easy enough (maybe with a few adjustments to our simple and/or medium container) that we dont need a separate package. regards, Lukas Smith smith@backendmedia.com _______________________________ BackendMedia www.backendmedia.com berlin@backendmedia.com Linn Zwoch Smith GbR Pariser Str. 44 D-10707 Berlin Tel +49 30 83 22 50 00 Fax +49 30 83 22 50 07
