Hi,
I'd like to issue a call for participation in the PHP5 Exception Use Guidelines document, with the objective of reaching some kind of agreement on Exception usage. Enough of an agreement to eventually reach an RFC and PHP5 Coding Guidelines entry. The page is here:
http://wiki.ciaweb.net/yawiki/?area=PEAR_Dev&page=RfcExceptionUse
The subject of Exceptions has been causing quite a lot of stir here on pear-dev. Hans Lellid, yesterday, setup a Wiki page to try and gather all points being launched in the mailing list.
The document has most of the infrastructural work done. Now it needs arguments to get written there, in the second section "Exceptions advantages and pitfalls". I ask everyone who has shown an opinion on the subject here in the list, to go to the wiki and thoughtfully layout his opinion.
Cheers,
Sérgio Carvalho
