Eachside has said what they had to say (and a bit more).
The feedback has been taken note of and actually there was never any doubt that a solution like the one asked for will be what we want in the long term (even mid term) and its already being worked on.
If anyone has anything useful to say that hasnt been said I suggest that he/she posts them to pear-qa@lists.php.net
