Thank you for not automatically assuming that I (can't speak for Hans, can I ;-) believe that you don't have any/enough knowledge about PHP5 or exceptions. During the year 2004 I've only had spare time enough to read a good handful threads on the dev mailing list on a temporary basis, and I've often forgotten who wrote what rater quickly, so I actually don't remember if I (dis)agree with you.Well, I certainly never meant to offend Stephan, and I apologize if in the "heat of battle" I ever did say something that was insulting. I also have no recollection of who said what. It has indeed been frustrating for me to have to defend basic exception use, after having hundreds of thousands of lines of PHP5 code that have been throwing exceptions for over a year. That said, I recognize that there are other perspectives to consider for PEAR policy decisions. Of course, I'm not really trying to change anyone else's code, just arguing for the right to use a built-in, well-proven language feature in my own code. But the bigger picture is that exceptions are a mostly done argument, I think. We have an RFC coming along quite nicely & then some other decisions which have to get voted on after that is in place. The bigger thing is interfaces. Interfaces are huge for PEAR, but they also represent a level of collaboration and a new kind of code quality that would be pretty different for PEAR. I'm anxious to see what happens there. Hans
