Lukas, I understand that you are not making this decision without having thought of the consequences. While a small minority may not appreciate your contributions to the lists, you have always been the voice of calm and reason in all the discussions. As for the flamers, disregard them. The biggest problem is that PEAR is pretending to be democratic, which ends up meaning that anyone who whines long enough can get whatever they want. This is an open invitation for flame threads. It also means that many decisions are made without reference to the "big picture". The Group needs to keep long-range consistency in mind, e.g., when considering the use of exceptions. This is not something that imho can be properly solved democratically. And that's what you're there for. Not to wipe the noses of the whiners, who unfortunately have changed the face of pear-dev over the past few months. Please reconsider your decision. PEAR needs your calm leadership abilities.
