So the format for specifying multiple options would be: channel://pear.example.com/Package/Foo=Bar/Bar=Baz ?Right. I want to avoid all characters that are magic in sh like & ? * and so on. Does anyone know if you can use % in the middle of a string (for things like %20), or will it try to substitute environment vars?? Notice that these options are not necessarily intended to be package-specific per-install configuration items, but extensions to the basic install mechanism. For package-specific configuration that requires user input, an install script should be used, which will most likely be implemented as a task. There does need to be a way to pass parameters to these scripts, but I haven't devoted enough thought to how to do this. Greg
