Ah, I see. Yes, this makes a lot of sense, but is still confusing. The only other solution I can think of (without doing TOO much thinking), is to do all pear-core development in a branch, and MFB that to php-src-HEAD when stable, but that's equally confusing. And people generally don't like branches (and like Merging From Braches even less), it seems. So, thanks for the explanation. I've submitted the feature request. S
