I used a local pear server, it can be done sometimes. In my
opininion the current error message is correct.

Gethostbyname will not tell that there is an internet access. Local
DNS cache or other local things can get cached dns entries.
The error is to do not silent fsockopen, the io handler being
checked later. I was sure it was behind an ugly '@'...
