I was under the impression that it would, since you yourself proposed it almost half a year ago and that would have been plenty of time to sort things out for the 4.1.0 release. Now 4.1.0 is here and it's still the same.
Anyway, PEAR is still a _mess_, That's nice to hear. Perhaps you want to start your own project and show us how to make it better?
If I did I would sure document and design the framework before actually bundling it with php releases (which gives the imho false impression that it is of release-quality) and let other contributors work on implementing those standards so the framework (the central repository, all installers/uploaders/packagers) will be complete and is properly tested before the first release. Most developers I know still think pear is incomplete and unusable and never really took a good look at it because of that.
It's taking for-f**king-ever!! Go and play somewhere else if you can't communicate with us in an appropriate way.
I agree it was a rather unnecessary and unthought-of remark, but I was rather pissed-off that after updating php to 4.1.0 our mailinglist backend stopped working because of PEAR/Mail's new CRLF handling in combination with qmail. I found a work-around after spending a day fixing something that was not broken. It was not my intention to be rude, so I take back everything I said that may have offended you and anyone else on this mailinglist, - Arjan -------------------------- Arjan Wekking a.wekking@synantics.nl -------------------------- http://www.synantics.nl/ -------------------------- Synantics B.V. phone +31 (0)78 6 144 211
