Mail.php is not deprecated. Mail.php is the interface for the different
mail transport classes.

Here was an error that's true, I introduced it and corrected it now. But
this error as you could have seen is because you are given wrong
parameters to the factory function or have your include path wrong.
For the next time I would recommend to use bugs.php.net or write a mail
with the bug/problem report to pear-dev and if possible keep you own
opinions of other non-related stuff in other mail.

Perhaps you haven't realize the goals and features of the 500Ks of code
already writen for the "PEAR installer/website". It's not so a quick
task.
