Bertrand,
IIRC some months ago there was a discussion about running tests with PEAR. Not only phpt ones, but PHPUnit(2) ones too.
Didn't Greg suggest to put the tests into the Tests folder after Sebastian confirmed how PHPUnit(2) do test themselves? Please correct me, if I'm wrong.
Furthermore, I did not suggest that PHPUnit2 should be the standard testing framework for PHP 5 packages. Just that the tests should be located in the Tests sub package. Nothing more.

Anyway, the guidelines say pear's phpt or PHPUnit. http://pear.php.net/manual/en/developers.contributing.php division 4. Actual is you find both .phpt (php or pear), both PHPUnit ("" or "2"), phpsimple (? not sure about this one)
