Benjamin Muskalla thus spake on 2006-03-29 01:06:
Benjamin Muskalla (http://pear.php.net/user/bmuskalla) proposes Database::DB_eXist. You can find more detailed information here: http://pear.php.net/pepr/pepr-proposal-show.php?id=303Great addition, but it is really necessary to require soap and simplexml extensions, which make it PHP5 only? 1. are there reasons against using PEAR SOAP / XML_RPC dependencies instead? 2. also it seems to me that the getSimpleXML() method (and therefore the SimpleXML dependency) does not belong in this package. Database::DB_eXist is just in the business of returning XML result strings. Any further processing of result strings belongs to specific business logic, which will be implemented in various ways (XSLT, XML_Unserializer, ...) Am I the only one who would love to have this PHP4-compatible?
