That is an interesting approach, could be something like:
Spreadsheet_Writer (as general/factory class)
- Spreadsheet_Writer_Excel
- Spreadsheet_Writer_SpreadsheetML
- Spreadsheet_Writer_OpenDocument
... etc
Or perhaps I did not get the gist of your suggestion?
