Yeah it had cURL in there at one point - remember the user agent patch :)
I thought it was better to use fopen so it's independent. Although I guess
cURL could be used as the default and fallback to fopen is it's not there.
OPh and I have a CVS account but I'm not sure if it applies to the pear
repository.
