The proposed package contains very minor changes to the Default renderer: 1) A change to regex described in http://pear.php.net/bugs/7820 2) Different templates, but these can be changed via public methods of HTML_QuickForm_Renderer_Default
Right. The idea was to provide an easy to use way (installation, ...) for people that want to render their forms without tables.
If bug #7820 is ever closed, then this package would contain only changes to templates. Now, do we want to have a separate subpackage for every possible design of the form, especially when these templates can be easily changed without subclassing the renderer?
I wouldn't allow this for "every possible design of the form". But I would see this proposal as a basic step for tableless forms. The layout generated by my package is not optimal for every case, so people will want to customize it. They can, of course. But they won't propose their changes as a new (sub)package. That's also true for other variations of the default renderer -- or was there any other rendering proposal for QF in the past years? And, as a last argument, this package could be extended by another package, named something like HTML_QuickForm_DHTMLRulesTabless -- providing JavaScript error handling like in my second example. It could be also a common package with Justin's code for standard (containing tables) forms. Compared to the standard alert window, I think this kind of error display is pretty cool. Regards, Mark
