Hi guys, I'm still trying to figure out the correct version number for this package. I read the document in the same way as Alan, so I was heading for 0.1.0alpha1, but is this correct? Justin Patrin wrote: The first release must be > 0.1.0. You don't need a postfix. The doc says "The version number must be greater *or equal* than 0.1.0", so I think 0.1.0 is a valid first version number. In fact, the table at the bottom of the page begins it's numbering at 0.1.0dev1.You're right, I meant >= 0.1.0.
The doc also says "The state should always be added as a suffix unless the state is stable". So again, I assumed that I always needed to suffix dev, alpha or beta to the version, hence 0.1.0alpha1 as the first version number. I would appreciate any help I can get with this. You don't need the state. See the second, later, RFC which was mentioned earlier in the thread: http://pear.php.net/pepr/pepr-proposal-show.php?id=65 We decided that appending the state added nothing useful. You're welcome to append the state, I think, but I would discourage it. The only state that should ever be appended, IMHO, is RC# where # is a number starting at 1. -- Justin Patrin
