We decided that appending the state added nothing useful. You're welcome to append the state, I think, but I would discourage it. The only state that should ever be appended, IMHO, is RC# where # is a number starting at 1. I tend to agree with you about the state. It seems like overkill when the word "alpha" is already in the next column.So is 0.1.0 a valid version to start with, or should I head for something like 0.5.0, or 0.1.4 to indicate that there have been 5 feature releases?
