Hello all,
please have a look at
http://pear.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=13017
in php 5.3, calling a method statically with
call_user_func(array($class, $method)) will fail if it is not declared
static with the keyword. This is true for the validatexml
functions in pear installer tasks.
Since we still support php4, we can't just change it.
Currently, php5_3 still allows foo::bar() be called without static
keyword, but that will change soon (helly is on that) and before 5.3
is released.
So we need to find a better way to call those methods, or make pear for
php < 5.3 only, or drop support for php4 in pear1 with 1.7.0.
