One thing I missed... your class should be named Image_JpegMarkerReader, to fit in PEAR's namespacing convention.
What is the naming convention WRT abbreviations in names? Most packages write them in all caps, e.g. HTTP_Request, XML_Query2XML, Net_FTP, Net_LDAP etc. In order to follow this convention, shouldn't the class be named Image_JPEGMarkerReader? Christian
