+1. This must be some mistake, I didn't found any 5.3 only features in
this package. Also PHP_CompatInfo package shows 5.0.5 as minimum for
mysqli driver.

My opinion, PHP4 support may be dropped. PHP4 users have an old DB
package ;) and MDB2 has already a '2' in the name, but maybe you're
right about 3.0. Move to PHP5.3 is no go.
