Yeah it's time we have cause some movement again. I believe what's going to be big(-ger) in the next year is "installers". For some reason, none wants to contribute to the PEAR installer because they all think writing an installer is easy. I'd love if we could put our foot down and say: "It's time, let's move, this is the new installer, you can plugin like this, yaddi yadda". Let's move!
Your Excellency, while I totally hate to disrupt your thoughts about the next big thing, may I humbly divert your attention to smaller things as well. A few months ago I asked about a possibility of a stable release of Net_URL2 in a foreseeable future, but received no response: http://news.php.net/php.pear.dev/54127 Not having a stable version of said package is quite unfortunate, as it has seven packages that depend on it directly and a dozen more depend on HTTP_Request2 that I maintain. None of these can be declared stable until Net_URL2 is stable itself, see e.g. this feature request for HTTP_Request2: http://pear.php.net/bugs/bug.php?id=18318 Since you are currently [listed as] the only active maintainer of Net_URL2, can you give any estimates on when it will be stable?

Hey all, As much as I love being part of the pear group; and realizing I've done nothing overly strenuous during that time; do we want to put in a bit of focus this time around re finding candidates / establishing a bit of a plan for the year? IE: http://pear.php.net/group/ is a shade out of date. When I reflect back on the last 12/24 months; I think the most I've done is (1) cause havoc [oops!] (2) grant karma in a few places (3) hack away at pearweb/make a few comments on an "integrated pear proxy" blog post. With the untimely death of the pear blog; news from 12 months ago is the only other contribution I seem to have made. What are some quick wins we can achieve between now and June? What else is going on in other areas of the PHP ecosystem that we should be reaching out to? (ie: symphony2's community is publishing great articles and code re dependency injection; while striking a balance between framework and components in their releases). What's really, really broken? (I should get off my behind and install a blogging platform on test.pear.php.net to replace blog.pear.php.net for instance) What does the community want to see in the next year?
