Thanks for the reference. I found a sort-of similar bug,
http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=18006, but the
problem wasn't exactly what
this one. I tried to whittle it down to a smaller test case than saying
'run my class and see', but have been unable to reproduce in a smaller
sample of code. So, something else must be going on; I'll try to get a
report in if I can decide exactly what caused the weirdness.
