Hello,
I use PEAR on a shared hoisting with safe mode ON
I have an include dir (this is easy to see if your ISP provides the same by having a look at phpinfo() ) and my PEAR directory is in the include dir.
No problem so far (but I use PEAR for only two functions : Smarty -that uses PEAR- and database access )
So the problem (probably easier to solve with your ISP) is perhaps : do you provide an "include" dir for my account ?

Hi, seemingly there are some problems when using PEAR with PHP's safe_mode enabled: Our system administrator told me today, that he is having enourmous problems setting up PEAR on a system that uses safe mode. The problem is, that the user, who is executing the script that uses PEAR, isn't allowed to access /usr/local/lib/php (where the PEAR files reside) due to the safe mode limitations ("The script whose uid is xxxx is not allowed to access ..."). IIRC there was also a report some weeks ago on php-dev about the same problem. How should this be handled? - Martin
