Just as a side note i would like to point ou that such a port has already been started, a search a
php_writeexcel should point you to the right direction.
If the class is ready i'd say go for it and include it.
Maybe a sync with the other guy who started the port would be good, avoids waste.

I started to use at work and it's getting better all the time.
I think we need such a class in PEAR. Users *want* to have excel output, and i mean formatted with
colors and stuff, not a just a CSV file ;))
