I still do not agree, Net_Geo provides network functionality, maps IP's to real locations, Net_Weather provides information for weather conditions, noting to do with network, the only thinkg network wise is the retrieval of the data (METAR) and that not always. In the same fassion we could have Net_Service_MySQL (am a bit extreme :) ), since we use network to access MySQL. But as I said the name does not matter to me, if anyone agrees with you I'll be ready to change it yavor PS. Did I get enough votes (3 or 4 i think) to add this class to PEAR, and what is the procedure if so, I have a cvs account but i don't think i have enough karma for this ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alan Knowles" <alan@akbkhome.com> To: "Yavor Shahpasov" <yavo@nicosia.com.cy> Cc: "Ondrej Jombik" <nepto@pobox.sk>; <pear-dev@lists.php.net> Sent: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 10:04 AM Subject: Re: [PEAR-DEV] Class Proposal Weather_Metar > It does open a question about these types of 'Network services' > > Since we already have Net_Geo (which is really a net service, rather > than a Network Protocol, and alot of the Net_* are not protocols but > tools), so it would follow that we would end up with > Net_WeatherMetar or Net_Weather_Metar > > or we could start another tract and start > Net_Service_Geo > Net_Service_Weather_Metar > Net_Protocol_NNTP > Net_Protocol_SMTP > Net_Tool_CheckIPv4 > Net_Socket > .... > > > in PHP5, I guess this helps reduce the issues with long names.. > use "Net::Service::Weather"; > $test = new Metar; > > I couldnt find any definitive direction (in the manual) on whether PEAR > intended to develop a deep or shallow tree structure.
