As I said above, that doesn't work - the version I had tried before places
VFS.php in the directory _above_ the PEAR install dir; this is closer:
<filelist>
<file role="php" baseinstalldir="VFS">../VFS.php</file>
<dir name="." baseinstalldir="VFS">
<file role="php">file.php</file>
<file role="php">ftp.php</file>
<file role="php">musql.php</file>
<file role="php">sql.php</file>
<file role="php">sql_file.php</file>
</dir>
</filelist>
... but gives this error on install:
Warning: mkdir(/usr/local/lib/php/VFS/..)
[http://www.php.net/function.mkdir]: File exists in System.php on line 236
failed to mkdir /usr/local/lib/php/VFS/..
Looks like if System::mkdir() didn't die when you try to create a directory
that already exists, this might actually work...
