Not really, XHTML (and even HTML) does not dictate that there should line-breaks anywhere, the rendering clients for either are free to ignore them, so they (strictly) are not needed. No one is talking about HTML, neither XHTML, need to do so.It's just, that some browser(s) [named Internet Explorer] can't copy it well to clipboard: it's messed up, because the line-breaks (newlines) are completely missing when inserting it to some Editor. Internet Explorer seems to need them, while Mozilla for me does not. It's a tic of IE (or M$ even).
Also, if you are copying the examples to an editor, why not just copy the rendered page instead of the source? If you do prefer to copy from the page source, then any good editor can easily do a search and replace, it is trivial in vim/vi, emacs, etc. He doesn't copy the source, he copies a source code sample. That's no HTML source, that's some piece of PHP source which is printed (also highlighted) on some HTML page in PEAR docu. -- Dennis Sterzenbach http://www.darknoise.de/
