Hi! Im trying to migrate from MySQL 4.0 to PostgreSQL 7.3 I'm using PEAR::DB, so this will be no big problem. But how to get data and
table-definitions to PostgreSQL? I have about 100 tables which have to be migrated. I tried to use MyODBC and
pgAdmin2 migration Wizard, but this does not work (pgAdmin crashes). So I tried to change a mysqldump by myself, but this is very difficult and
could cause problems which I perhaps don't see at once. So is there a better solution to migrate the table-definitions? I thougt about PEAR::MDB, is there a way to create an XML-table-definition
for MDB, by MDB itself? I could not find any methodes which could do something like that.MDB does support reverse engineering MySQL databases into the xml schema format. There is a script as part of the MDB install called reverse_engineer_schema.php or something like that. However note that this functionality is focused on mapping all of the databases to MDB datatypes. In case it cant do that 1-1 it will issue warnings you can fix manually. The result will be an xml schema file which you can then use to create the database in pgsql. regards, Lukas Smith smith@backendmedia.com _______________________________ BackendMedia www.backendmedia.com berlin@backendmedia.com Linn Zwoch Smith GbR Pariser Str. 44 D-10707 Berlin Tel +49 30 83 22 50 00 Fax +49 30 83 22 50 07
