OK, lets say session is one thing. That might change. Okay. Sorry, lack of

Better say "user variables", certain settings which the user might change
during a session, but which should be restored the user logs in next time.

Fine for session variables. User variables you might want to store in a

I know that. That's what phplibs session4.php session4_custom.php are for.
They use the real PHP4 sessions and simply supply the storage containers,
or allow to use the standard php4 files in /tmp/.
