I checked with Auth_PrefManager:
looks like that's already something like that what I want...
BUT: In the docs you find PM_Example.php which uses preferences.php which
doesn't exist actually:

<?php
require_once("Auth/preferences.php");
$options = array("table" => "user_prefs");
$prefs = new PrefManager($dsn, $options);
---snip---
Strange. :(
It should be require_once("Auth/PrefManager.php"); from looking at the package.xml file.
The difference is that LiveUser allows you to define multiple auth containers which LiveUser will attempt to authenticate against sequentially. Once it finds a match it will stop this sequence obviously. Furthermore LiveUser allows you to define a permission container where you can store the rights of each users. As such LiveUser supports PEAR::Auth by using the relevant auth container from LiveUser. regards, Lukas Smith smith@backendmedia.com _______________________________ BackendMedia www.backendmedia.com berlin@backendmedia.com Linn Zwoch Smith GbR Pariser Str. 44 D-10707 Berlin Tel +49 30 83 22 50 00 Fax +49 30 83 22 50 07would assume it should work with LiveUser as well. However make sure that you use the permission user id and not the auth user id, as the auth user id is not a unique identifier for a user in LiveUser as the same user id can be used in the different containers (however if you only use one auth container this will not be a problem, but you never know what will happen in the future).OK, than it's only the question what the main difference between Auth and LiveUser itself is...
