It might be worth while to set two QF fields: one static, so it displays immutable, and one hidden, so the value propagates.Guess that's what I'll have to do. I was hoping not to use a hidden field, because At the start of form processing, I have the field value. With a hidden field, theoretically someone could change the value when they submit the form, because the hidden value *is* submitted. I was hoping to get the 'static' elements value saved in the session. Yeah, I could manually save the value in the session, but it would be much more elegant to set the static value with setDefaults when the form is created, and then just have it available.
