Hi, Justin, Sorry, not sure what you mean by "put phpinfo in one of your scripts". Running it through the browser reports: Configuration File (php.ini) Path c:\program files\easyphp1-7\apache\php.ini Further on down we see: include_path .;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\www\go-pear;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\php;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\php\pear;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\php\pear\pear;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\www\pear;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\www\pear\pear;c:\winnt .;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\www\go-pear;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\php;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\php\pear;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\php\pear\pear;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\www\pear;C:\Program Files\EasyPHP1-7\www\pear\pear;c:\winnt I know I don't need all those folders in the include_path, just thought I'd keep throwing PHP places to look at until it figured something out. Oh, since it found the php.ini, I didn't think long file names were a problem, but also tried: include_path .;C:\progra~1\EasyPHP1-7\www\go-pear;C:\progra~1\EasyPHP1-7\php;C:\progra~1\ EasyPHP1-7\php\pear;C:\progra~1\EasyPHP1-7\php\pear\pear;C:\progra~1\EasyPHP 1-7\www\pear;C:\progra~1\EasyPHP1-7\www\pear\pear;c:\winnt .;C:\progra~1\EasyPHP1-7\www\go-pear;C:\progra~1\EasyPHP1-7\php;C:\progra~1\ EasyPHP1-7\php\pear;C:\progra~1\EasyPHP1-7\php\pear\pear;C:\progra~1\EasyPHP 1-7\www\pear;C:\progra~1\EasyPHP1-7\www\pear\pear;c:\winnt Same result, pear\pear.php fails because when it shells out to pear\archive\tar.php, tar.php can't find the file that called it! (Or so I'm guessing.) Argh! Oh, the thing with putting php.ini in more than one place was from a series of posts in this group, back in May. Someone named George (aka "Psuedomizer") asked about the gd module causing dependencies to fail with pear v4.3 (where it's now built in as opposed to being called as any other extension). Stefan Neufeind then wrote back a couple of times, determining that it was a -> simple solution - though it takes quite long to find out, if you're -> digging in the complete wrong direction :-)) The installer uses -> php.exe from the subdirectory "cli\" while all other scripts use -> either php as a module or from one directory above "cli\". The -> problem is that the cli-variant does not know where to load the -> php.ini, in which you enabled loading of the gd2-extension. Since I didn't have a "cli" folder I guessed he was talking about the "command" folder - which is in ...php\pear\pear\pear\command (it's got auth, common, install, config, package, and other scripts) - all I know is that after placing a copy of php.ini in that folder, I could get image_gis to install via the DAS pear, whereas before it kept bombing out saying that gd wasn't installed even though phpinfo reported it to be there clear as day. Then again, it finally *said* it installed, but phpinfo doesn't show it, so maybe something's still screwed up. Anyway, sorry for the ramble, need another sip of coffee. Still don't know why the web pear install is failing, but thanks for the reply! -- I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it. -- Steven Wright ____________________________________________________________________ Carl Pearson ~ www.jman.org ~ jman@jman.org "Justin Patrin" <papercrane@gmail.com> wrote in message news:432beae04081310183d0a968d@mail.gmail.com... > On Fri, 13 Aug 2004 06:49:13 -0500, Carl Pearson <jman@jman.org> wrote: > > Hi, All, > > > > Am (unfortunately) on a W2K box here, using Apache 1.3 7 & PHP5. > > > > The DAS Pear install went OK, had some trouble with GD until I read a post > > here about copying the php.ini to the command subfolder.
