FYI, the greatest advantage of ezmlm is being based on qmail. qmail has at least two important features that makes it a killer for very large list mailing: VERP for handling bounces and QMQP for distributing mail queues over multiple delivery servers. These are very good reasons that justify its choice for eGroups/Yahoo Groups. Another FYI, Mailman is a very popular list manager that was written in Python. This means that it could have been written in PHP if its authors liked PHP instead of Python because there is no real advantage of either of the languages for this type of application. That does not void the point of ezmlm have been in C. -- Regards, Manuel LemosFollowing this argumentation, one can assume that the development of ezmlm or Majordomo never made sense, since PHP can do the same job in the same efficient, secure and reliable way, no? ;-)The problem is a designing one. PHP was never create for such tasks. Maybe you can use Majordomo or elzm for this. If you really want to use PHP to do that set up a cron job which calls the script as often as nec. The script itself should send max. 20 mails per call. This is a great misconception of many people that have no clue on how to do it efficiently. There is no problem in using PHP to send out newsletters to many thousands of subscribers.
