Yes I quite understood what you were saying in your previous email thanks. My other questions were regarding a roadmap for PEAR which Lukas kindly answered that there wasn't one. I think it would be better if PEAR had a centralised wiki, and if you can point me in the right direction then I don't mind setting this up and managing it.There was a wiki but that idea ended in nirvana for now. So most developers that felt a need to have a wiki setup their own.
I think a forum offers a lot more benefits over a Newsgroup, my opinion, but one that seems to be consistent throughout new projects, I see forums these days more than newsgroups. This was discussed before. The consensus was we welcome third party PEAR forums, however we do not want to dilute our scarce developer resources too much. A news group is more or less a forum but is much easier to filter since you can use the entire decentralized email filtering infrastructure.
And I don't think that anyone should have to suffer any email like your first one to weed out whether they want to contribute or not, is this some perverted way of initiating people, if they take the crap then they are ok?The reality is that open source works this way. People have different backgrounds and styles. In the end we come together with our code and not because we are necessarily the best friends (thats an added bonus). So if you want to do open source you will have to learn how to parse comments like Alexey with a filter that will enable you to get to the content without feeling insulted. regards, Lukas
