checking functionality of PEAR

I am having problems getting PHPDocumenter to work, and I think it may be a configuration issue with pear or php. My machine is a r-path lamp VM, so I didn't build or configure it.
I have tried following the instructions at http://pear.php.net/package/PhpDocumentor
But I have had no luck. I get http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v133/wyrmul/?action=view¤t=phpdoc.jpg when I try to open the page. What sort of configuration, structure, etc. do I need to make this work?
