Glad to be of help :)
This bug and and some I read here the past days will be fixed in the next setup script for PEAR, which will be hopefully availabe with the next php release.
Will give it a try then to help iron any other bug :) I did finally sort things out by using the short file names (which I had first to create, since my system didn't create them by default due to a change in the registry -- more details in the other message I posted in the thread). It could be good, to add this into the FAQ or into a help file, IF after the fix, it is needed for those with this setting that keeps the system from creating short file names. Other than that I would like to make a simple suggestion, to improve usability, IMHO. Here it is: When presented with this screen:
 1. Installation prefix : c:\php4
 2. Binaries directory : $prefix
 3. PHP code directory : $prefix\pear
4. Documentation base directory : $php_dir\docs
 5. Data base directory : $php_dir\data
 6. Tests base directory : $php_dir\tests
the $php_dir is not so clear as to it being the /pear/ folder, if that's really the case (correct me if I'm wrong :). An easy enough improvement that could reduce people asking for help would be adding a sample to this like:
 1. Installation prefix (c:\php4) : c:\php4
 2. Binaries folder (c:\php4) : $prefix
 3. PHP code folder (c:\php4\pear) : $prefix\pear
4. Documentation base folder (c:\php4\pear\docs) : $php_dir\docs
 5. Data base folder (c:\php4\pear\data) : $php_dir\data
 6. Tests base folder (c:\php4\pear\tests): $php_dir\tests
I changed the directory to folder to make it a bit shorter, but that might be incorrect. Also, the text that precedes this could be changed by adding a line to clarify: Below is a suggested file layout for your new PEAR installation. To change individual locations, type the number in front of the directory. Type 'all' to change all of them or simply press Enter to accept these locations. In parenthesis there is a sample of the default folder layout. There is no need to change anything if this layout is correct for your installation. Anyway, this might be overkill ;) And another minor thing, when I was trying to move the files from the default installation into my folder, I checked the pear.bat and this line: %PHP_BIN% -C -d output_buffering=1 -d include_path=%PEAR_PATH% -f %BIN_DIR%\pear -- %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9 @ECHO ON shouldn't %PEAR_PATH% and %BIN_DIR% be one and the same? Regards, Jose
Thank's for your patience, pierre
