to this i can only partly agree, since a function you write does
always return, a defined data type otherwise the calling function
would also get confused or to complicated and during my PHP
experience i have only rarely discovered that a variable or function
is not of one type, converting is mostly only done temporarily,
at least the way i did it, and if a variable is an integer although it's
saved as "7" (which is a string) the program only uses it as an
integer...
i also started with hating hungarian notation, until i was involved
in a project where it was required and used everywhere, and i found
it VERY useful and helpful, hard to get used to but later it made work
much easier
but if the PEAR-community agrees on not using hungarian - that's fine
with me, it was just a question
