If it is in pecl in the php.net cvs tree then we have some control of it and the name would be ok. However, it is a bit redundant, I think in the pecl context. I can't think of any pecl extension that has PHP directly in its name. I also don't see a problem with pecl extensions having some userspace bits associated with them. pecl/apc has apc.php which is the info page for the extension. pecl/inclued has some script to take the generated include data and create nice graphviz charts. I don't see this as being very different from that. -Rasmusc) Internally we have been calling this PHProf (short for Php Hierarchical PROFiler) for a while now. But we realized after reading (http://www.php.net/license/) that this isn't desirable. Will changing the name be a precondition for hosting/approval into PECL?I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing the name would have to be changed.
