We were thinking of a hybrid model-- sort of like Xdebug (http://pecl.php.net/package/Xdebug)-- where there is a PECL page with downloadable release tar balls, information etc. But the actual hosting of the software (and associated bug tracking, source code browsing etc.) is on another site which supports SVN (perhaps sourceforge.net). Would there be any issue with that? regards, Kannan -----Original Message----- From: Rasmus Lerdorf [mailto:rasmus@lerdorf.com] Sent: Tuesday, November 25, 2008 5:20 PM To: Joe Stump Cc: Kannan Muthukkaruppan; pecl-dev@lists.php.net; Robert Johnson; Changhao Jiang; Venkat Venkataramani; Haiping Zhao; David Fetterman; Brian Shire; Lucas Nealan Subject: Re: [PECL-DEV] interested in open sourcing a PHP profiler Joe Stump wrote: >> c) Internally we have been calling this PHProf (short for Php >> Hierarchical PROFiler) for a while now. If it is in pecl in the php.net cvs tree then we have some control of it and the name would be ok. However, it is a bit redundant, I think in the pecl context. I can't think of any pecl extension that has PHP directly in its name. I also don't see a problem with pecl extensions having some userspace bits associated with them. pecl/apc has apc.php which is the info page for the extension. pecl/inclued has some script to take the generated include data and create nice graphviz charts. I don't see this as being very different from that. -Rasmus
