Hi All,
I'm writing this message to you because I like to offer some of my time to help making the ssh2 PECL extension better.
I've written Sara an email and she told me to get on the pecl-dev mailing list and request git access. (btw: I'm guessing she meant svn here)
"Tell 'em I said you're welcome to take over the extension." she added.
I'm using the ssh2 extension quite heavily already, and will be using it
even more in the coming years. Also I've been looking for a niche to
start contributing to PHP for a while. I think the ssh2 library could do
with some love and attention.
There are currently 51 open bugs for the ssh2 package. I'd like to start
with cleaning up those. Some of the bugs are features requests that are
not implemented by libssh2, such as bug #56349: 'create a function to do
the equiv of ssh-keygen'. Some other bugs need further testing, and
could well be problems in libssh2 itself.
Some bugs even have patches that seem to solve the problem for the
person that filed the patch. If they solve a real problem it seems a
waste not to include it in the pecl package.
Personally, I added a patch for ssh-agent support (bug #60522) and would
like to see that in a new version.
Also I can imagine that ssh2 which currently has only functions could do
with a ssh2 class that implement connection, sftp and publickey
subsystems etc. I have thought more about this, but I think that this
needs discussion, which is not the goal of my email. My point is: I see
more work that could be done.
Greetings,
