Well - just try heuristic fence thingy :) Never used that.
Doesn't seem to do anything. =)
Yep. run-tests.php forks the testfile. Try this option in gdb: set follow-fork-mode
This is funny: (gdb) set follow-fork-mode Segmentation fault (core dumped) [mwhite@sticky php-4.3.0pre2]$
Reading up, I think rebuilding the kernel is just 1 step :(
That's what I figured.
So - it depends on what you want to use this machine for. You need to do a make world, or at least recompile libc and gdb. Unless you know what you are doing, make world is the best thing to do. See /etc/make.conf on how to set up debugging. If you want to use the machine for debugging FreeBSD 64-bit arch (which is a very welcome addition to PHP-QA by the way), then this will help. Building a debug kernel will help with even more, into the syscall() functions for one, driver issues and stuff like that.
It's my mail server for my domain, but I suppose I could move my mail services off to a different machine for a while just to play, provided gdb isn't broken. Do you know if it's possible to examine a 64-bit core file on a FreeBSD/i386 machine? (I have several of those too, but every test cycle seems to show us that it works on like 32 flavors of Linux, three or four flavors of FreeBSD/i386, and every now and then someone tests Win32...) - Matt
