Chris & All,
If I did put together a detailed proposal, is there anywhere other than rfc
where I might be able to submit it? Could I perhaps send it out to the
internals list?
I do genuinely believe in this feature as it prevents some designs from
being accomplished without a workaround (an array on the parent class keyed
by subclass). I've seen enough features discarded in the past and revisited
once sufficient demand manifested. Although I agree with you that you have
to catch people at the right phase of the moon to get past a wall of
resistance.
The only valid reasoning I've seen against this idea is that it would break
existing code. Which I think I addressed (without addressing the
complexity) by revising my idea into a new modifier during declaration.
I've heard less opposition to this alternative idea as opposed to my
original one, which is a good start, no?
Thanks for the info, and hopefully you and others can answer my remaining
questions!
