I agree that the spec has become too complex. In particular, the use of @, $,
% have confused me almost as much as perl does. ;-) I doubt that the target
audience (designers, html writers) will grasp this easily. Further, I still
question the need for includes and for config file access, both of which I
believe belong in the realm of the php code.
I even question the need for template level conditionals, given that a
template writer could simply define two sections which the PHP code is able to
choose between and and selectively display/hide.
Of course, I may be biased since that is about what I already came up with.
