Yup, static build appears to work correctly. Also re-downloaded both
apache-1.3.12 and php-4.0RC1, re-configged and reinstalled (dso version).
Still no go.
Regarding the FAQ, number 4.11, I *think* things look okay. At least
don't look like the FAQ says they're not supposed to look like. Sample
lines from mine:
my $CFG_CFLAGS = q( -DSOLARIS2=260 -DUSE_EXPAT -I../lib/expat-lite
../apaci);
my $CFG_CFLAGS_SHLIB = q(-fPIC -DSHARED_MODULE);
my $CFG_LD_SHLIB = q(ld);my $CFG_LDFLAGS_SHLIB = q(-G);
my $CFG_LIBS_SHLIB = q();Any other thoughts or clues? At 05:48 PM 4/12/00 , Rasmus Lerdorf wrote:
Works fine for me on Solaris. Try a static build instead. On Wed, 12 Apr 2000, Glenn Little wrote: Unfortunately still having the problem. Is it known to successfully work in dso mode with apache under solaris? As a quick and dirty test, I got the php4RC1 and apache-1.3.12 tarballs, stuck them on a spare linux box, and managed to get everything working with no trouble. Essentially the same config flags.force-cgi-redirect has no meaning when you are building PHP as an Apache module (which you are because you have --with-apxs)Took out--enable-force-cgi-redirect=yesjust in case. Also took out--enable-sysvshm=yes --enable-sysvsem=yesRecompiled/installed apache. Still having the exact error: ap_block_alarms: referenced symbol not found and apache fails to start.Is /web/apache a symlink to /web/apache-1.3.12 ?Yes.It sure looks like you built PHP against a different set of Apacheheadersthan the one you are trying to link it into.Any way I can look into this further? Any suggestions about what else to look at... I'm out of ideas. Thanks again...-glenn glittle@ucsd.eduOriginal message with config directives etc:Subject: Re: [PHP4BETA] won't dynamically linkI'm sorry to be bugging this list about this, but you all are my last resort. I've already tried zend.com, phpbuilder, php.net, the deja archives, etc. I'm currently unable to find any way to get php4 working. running sparc-solaris (sunos 5.6) apache 1.3.12, compiled with dynamic linking (mod.so) enabled. Here are the flags: ./configure "--prefix=/web/apache-1.3.12" "--with-layout=Apache" "--enable-module=so" "--enable-module=auth_dbm" php-4, RC1, compiled to use dynamic linking (apxs). Here are the flags: ./configure --with-apxs=/web/apache-1.3.12/bin/apxs --prefix=/web/php-4.0RC1 --with-config-file-path=/web/php ## that's a symlink to the --prefix path --without-gd --enable-sysvshm=yes --enable-sysvsem=yes --enable-safe-mode=yes --with-exec-dir=/web/php/safe-bin --enable-track-vars=yes --enable-trans-sid=yes --enable-force-cgi-redirect=yesforce-cgi-redirect has no meaning when you are building PHP as an Apache module (which you are because you have --with-apxs)--enable-memory-limit=yes --with-xml --enable-short-tags=no As far as I can tell, compiles and installs go fine. But when I try to start up the web server, I get this error: Syntax error on line 212 of /web/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /web/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: ld.so.1: /web/apache/bin/httpd: fatal: relocation error: file /web/apache/libexec/libphp4.so: symbol ap_block_alarms: referenced symbol not found Line 212 is the loadmodule line: LoadModule php4_module libexec/libphp4.so Commenting out that line allows httpd to start, but of course without php. Has anyone run across this before? Any help would be appreciated, since I'm stumped and we're dead in the water as far as php goes.Is /web/apache a symlink to /web/apache-1.3.12 ?
