"Release notes" sound like the wrong title for this page, since it is really a mix of technical release notes and almost a press release. It is more of a release announcement.
I think the document is good as a single unit; Don't you? Perhaps the name 'Release Notes' isn't good, but I think it's most descriptive. I still think "Release Announcement" is the most descriptive.
Zeev and I are both fine with changing it.
With our historical burden of setting release dates, I think we should be a bit more defensive than saying "within a few months". This is perceived as "in september". What about "Q4 1999 or Q1 2000"?
I think we have no idea when it will be out. We know it's not in the range of years but in the range of months. Agreed, but there is also the "multiply time by pi" factor. If we say "in a few months", people will be disappointed when (not if) we release after more than two months. If we say "end of 99/start of 2k", we may even be able to surprise people releasing earlier.
I think 4Q99 should be pessimistic enough. PHP 4.0 is in a better state than PHP 3.0 was when we started testing it publicly. Andi --- Andi Gutmans <andi@zend.com> ICQ: 1568297
